Insta360’s Luna Is Sitting on a Store Shelf in Shenzhen. Nobody Told the Luna It Was a Secret.

Someone walked into an Insta360 flagship store in Shenzhen last Sunday and found the Luna just… there. On a shelf. White. Being held by the store manager for photos. Not a prototype behind glass. Not a concept render. A retail unit, sitting out in the open, three weeks before anyone expected to see it.

Leaker Igor Bogdanov confirmed the sighting on March 16th. The photos are real. And the first thing you notice, after the “wait, what?” wears off, is that it’s white.

That matters more than it sounds. Every leak and official tease up to this point showed the Luna in black. The white variant showing up production-ready in a retail environment means Insta360 isn’t just close. They’re done. The camera exists in multiple colorways, it’s in stores, and apparently nobody told the Shenzhen staff to keep it in the back.

The other detail that catches your eye in the photos: a small white wireless mic clipped to the manager’s shirt. Almost certainly an official Luna accessory. Which means the accessory ecosystem is also ready to go.

Now, the camera itself. The Luna runs a modular “Twist” system. The camera module physically detaches from the gimbal. That’s the move. Use it mounted for stabilized handheld shots, pull it off and stick it somewhere the gimbal won’t fit. On a rig, in a tight space, on a drone. The DJI Pocket 4 Pro doesn’t do that. The Pocket 4 Pro is a great camera, but it’s one thing. The Luna is trying to be two things depending on what you need in the moment.

Optical zoom is confirmed at 3x, through a real 70mm telephoto lens. Not digital. Not cropped. Actual glass. There’s a rotating touchscreen, swipe gesture controls, AI tracking, and manual zoom. CEO Liu Jingkang already committed to a first-half 2026 launch, and retail stock sitting in Chinese stores strongly suggests that timeline is still on.
